Resident Organizations/Meetings
Empowering Residents to Participate
Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD), is a Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) program that enable a Public Housing Authority (PHA) to preserve their affordable housing stock. Whatever the conversion method, the ultimate goal is to improve quality of life for you, the resident, through upgrades to the buildings, communities, and services offered. Through our joint Resident Meetings, Allied Orion partners with your PHA, and the developer to encourage residents to take an active role in the process.
The Right to Organize
RAD residents have the right to establish and operate a resident organization that addresses issues related to the living environment, including the terms and conditions of residency, and activities related to housing and community development.
Resident Council
The Resident Council Members are elected by residents to perform a number of tasks, including planning events and activities, fund raising, addressing resident concerns and coordination with HRI-Victory, HHA, and community service providers.
The HHA provides Resident Council officers with training to help ensure that the councils are well governed and adhere to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's requirements for council membership.
